With an October deadline looming, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach is trying to reach out to help Haitian nationals needing to re-register for their Temporary Protected Status (TPS). That’s because the United States Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) extended the re-registration deadline and now all current TPS participants MUST re-register with the USCIS before October 26, 2015. Failure to timely re-register will result in termination of TPS status and possible removal proceedings.
Catholic Charities’ Immigration and Legal Services Program is assisting with TPS re-registration for a nominal fee. At its St. Francis Center in Riviera Beach, clients will be seen on a walk-in basis on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The last day for walk-in assistance will be Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Appointments may also be made. For those wishing assistance on the Treasure Coast or Pahokee, Catholic Charities has offices in Stuart and St. Mary Center in Pahokee. Appointments for all three locations should be made by calling 561-345-2003.
There are certain documents or forms that clients wishing to re-register will need to bring with them when they come to a Catholic Charities office. A Checklist of those items is available in English and Creole below.
The Immigration and Legal Services Program of Catholic Charities is a multi-lingual, multi-cultural staff with three office locations that provides legal services to foreign-born individuals. The program provides services to foreign-born individuals in need of immigration assistance and focuses primarily on family reunification. The program offers several services.
